Vapes vs. Joints: The Battle of the Better

Note: There are different vapes on the market—some use juice, some oils, some use cannabis flower and some use dabs. Make sure you choose the best one for you. Also, your alternative does not have to be a joint — it can be a blunt, spliff, or anything else you prefer!

The Craze!
The craze nowadays is the vape pen. Whether it is a cannabis vape pen or an alternative, they are currently the “in thing”. Typically, you see at least one person in public smoking a vape. It’s efficient, easy to carry, portable, and overall more convenient than a joint.

You can potentially spark up a vape pen in the middle of Target, but a joint? Not so much. It all depends on your preference as a smoker. I’m here to talk a little about the differences of both to help you figure out what you need.

For some, especially new smokers, joints can be harsh on your throat for a good few days/weeks before you gets used to it. With vaping (depending on the pen),you are less likely to have that. It often boils down to the brand. The cheaper options that are about $30–$50 are probably not going to be the best ones out there. From personal experience with a bad pen it can be just as hazardous as a joint the first few times around, so be selective.

Vapes VS. Joints
Now, joints are traditional—that much we do know. If you can roll it tight and smoke it right, you are good to go. However, some cannot roll, and some have less experience even smoking one so consumption may be tough, depending on the person.

Sometimes with vapes you can get jipped (according to a friend’s personal experience). One of my gal pals got jipped on the juice she got in her pen. You often do not realize it until you’re at home, and at that point you probably don’t want to go all the way back to where you got it from. I mean, I would because I paid for it, but some might simply not have the time.

Be aware that vapes also have the tendency to leak. You may want to watch out for that. It may not be often, but it does happen. For joint smokers, your weed is going nowhere.

Vaporized Cannabis?
The pro about vaporized cannabis is that there is no smell. If you are out and about and just want a quick puff, you can have that as opposed to a joint that is smelly and can be less convenient to consume.

While vaporized cannabis does cost less, at the end of the day, depending on how much you smoke, the prices may end up being just about the same. Keep in mind, you still have to buy the actual vape, which can get costly.

There are some claims online that vapes gets you higher than a joint, but that depends on the person, and that is neither a pro nor con. Your high is strictly based on your preferences.

Check It Out!
Watch out for some vapes that cost almost $300 (and based on reviews are not all that great). I would research YouTube and Amazon reviews to see if it’s worth it.

I would also go to a medical shop and see what they may have there. Cheaper options may be suitable for you to start, simply because it allows you to try it out and see if you’ll like it.

If you do not want a cannabis vape and prefer a regular one, that option is there too. It is 2017, possibilities are endless!

Enjoy!

With seemingly countless cannabis strains on the market, it’s never been easier to find one that fits (and elevates) your lifestyle. Some people want a pick-me-up sativa strain that sparks their creativity, while others seek out an indica variety that takes them to the next level of relaxation. Pain relief qualities and aroma are also factors often taken into account when choosing strains of cannabis. A quick clarifying note: sativa and indica are both species of cannabis, while the different cannabis strains have been created by humans through selective breeding that increases certain desired characteristics, such as high THC concentration. Plants of the same cannabis species have things in common with each other, but they also have differences based on their strain. Lawmakers say the products should be pulled until they are proven safe. By Mark Huffman 09/23/2019 | ConsumerAffairs | E-cigarette News The anti-vaping drumbeat is getting louder in Washington, as four members of the U.S. Senate have asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to immediately ban the most popular kind of e-cigarette products from the market. The senators -- Dick Durbin (D-IL), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) -- cite the mysterious lung ailments that have been linked to e-cigarette use. In a letter to Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Ned Sharpless, the lawmakers call for the immediate removal of all pod- and cartridge-based e-cigarettes from the market, unless or until they can prove that they benefit the public health. The proposal is a sharp escalation of the steps currently under consideration. The FDA last week launched a criminal investigation into the 530 cases of lung illnesses, including eight deaths. The Trump administration is also reportedly considering a ban on flavored e-cigarette products. Lawmakers fault the FDA In their letter, the senators denounce what they say has been a lack of action from the FDA when it comes to e-cigarette products. “The proliferation of cartridge-based e-cigarettes—and their ever-increasing popularity with children—is primarily due to the FDA’s years-long refusal to regulate any e-cigarette devices or impose common-sense design standards preventing against adulteration, despite having the authority to do so,” they said. “Make no mistake: none of the e-cigarettes, including cartridge-based e-cigarettes, currently on the market have gone through the FDA approval process. They have not demonstrated that they are safe and effective for helping adults quit smoking cigarettes.” The lawmakers point to reports of the increasing use of e-cigarettes by people under the age of 18. They contend that five million children are now vaping, including one in four high school students. In a recent one-year period, 2017 to 2018, the lawmakers say America saw a 78 percent increase in the number of high school students using e-cigarettes and a 48 percent increase in the number of middle school children using the products. The senators draw a distinction between cartridge-based systems and the open tank e-cigarettes that are typically sold in vape shops. They say cartridge-based products are often sold in convenience stores and other outlets where under-age consumers have freer access.
